Don't Stop 08 – Business Conference in Copenhagen, November 19, 2008: Extra
Special magazine about Happy Capitalism
Tuesday, 14 October 2008 00:00

Meet the keynote speakers of Don't Stop 08 and learn more about the concept of Happy Capitalism

We have heard and know that it is people who create value in the knowledge society. Humans are the most important production factor. That people and their talent are every organization’s greatest asset.

Unfortunately, it seems the message has begun to bore us. There are still many companies who have a long way to go, with many important changes ahead. It is not only about acknowledging that human beings are the most important resource, but also about how we organize our business overall, about cooperation, about sharing and about developing new desirable business models. In short: How can we again become happy capitalists, or happier capitalists, in the future?

Monday, 13 October 2008 00:00

Open article, by Timothy Jacob Jensen. Hear and meet Jensen at Don’t Stop 08.

If you speak to the engaged, the generous, the curious and the responsible in a person, you will probably get an engaged, generous, curious and responsible reply. But if you speak with indifference, contempt and egoism, you will probably get the same in return. It isn’t a law of nature, but it is a sort of a rule of thumb that you get what you give.

Monday, 13 October 2008 00:00

Open article, by Mette Blach, Project Manager at Don’t Stop 08.

The capitalist market system is undergoing a transformation as companies and people can no longer survive on economic surplus. The need for the new, humane capitalism or “Happy Capitalism” is growing day by day because of the need to supplement economic surplus with a mental surplus. “Happy Capitalism” is not a contradiction in terms or an oxymoron, but ideas on how the organisations, managers and societies that manage to unify happiness and economic growth will become tomorrow’s winners.

That more women have the potential to enter traditionally male-dominated fields and become managers, investors and entrepreneurs has long been a topic of discussion. But the authors of the remarkable book, Why Women Mean Business, go further. They believe women are ascending to become the greatest resource for future economic growth – and that companies that underestimate women’s rise take an enormous risk.

Don’t Stop 08 - Ethical Economy
Friday, 10 October 2008 00:00

Open article, by Adam Arvidsson. Hear and meet Arvidsson at Don’t Stop 08.

So far, there is no standard way to measure the exact, or even approximate, value of the products of ethical economy. No common measure exists simply because nobody has been strong enough to impose a common measure, or to decide what the values should be. It is not that you cannot measure “ethical things” like love or respect – there are systems that do this. It is rather that the ethical economy presents a problem of measure for the capitalist monetary economy, because it largely unfolds beyond its direct control.
